- If you own a home ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, keep in mind what can and cannot be cleaned using vibration.
- Any jewelry metal with no stones is okay.
- Any jewelry metal with diamonds, rubies, sapphires, amethyst or citrine are okay if the stones have no significant cracks or inclusions
- Emeralds, peridot, tansanite and softer gems such as opals, pearls, onyx, turquoise etc are NOT okay
- Colored diamonds are not okay unless you are absolutely certain they have not been treated to enhance their color.
Cleaning Pearls
To clean pearl jewelry, gently wipe it after each wear with a soft, dry cloth. For more thorough cleaning, use a damp cloth with a mild, unscented soap and warm water solution, ensuring you wring out the cloth well and avoid soaking the pearls. After cleaning, pat the pearls dry with a soft cloth and allow them to air-dry completely before wearing or storing them to prevent damage to the silk string.
